How many guests make a small wedding in Goa?

There is no official number, but a small wedding in Goa usually means 60 guests or fewer, and that figure matters more than it looks. Sixty is where the choice of venue changes. Marbela's VIP Terrace, an open-air lounge with sea views, seats 60, so a guest list at or under that number can take a whole space built for its size. Go above it and the celebration moves to the beachfront lawn, which venue listings put at anywhere from 350 to 700 seated as of September 2026, and you start paying décor bills to fill empty grass. Under about 20 guests, you may not need an event space at all. A long table at Meso, the bamboo restaurant facing the Arabian Sea, can carry a wedding dinner on its own. Why is a small wedding easier on a turtle-nesting beach?

Morjim is a protected Olive Ridley nesting beach, and eggs are moved to the Forest Department's fenced hatchery. Nesting runs mainly from late December to March, and eggs incubate for about 45–52 days. According to The Goan, 152 turtles laid more than 15,500 eggs at Morjim in the 2024–25 season. Bright lights and loud noise on the beach disturb them. For a 300-guest wedding with a stage, floodlights and a big sound system, those months need careful planning. For a 40-guest wedding they barely register. A small group can hold the ceremony in daylight, walk up to the VIP Terrace for dinner as it gets dark, and keep lights and speakers off the sand without anyone feeling short-changed. A two-day intimate wedding with real timings

This plan assumes about 40 guests in December, when the sun sets at around 6 PM.

1. Day one, 2:00 PM: guests check in. Anyone on an early flight should book the night before to guarantee a room.
2. 4:30 PM: the beach club for the pool, cocktails and the DJ's sunset set. The club is shared with other guests and closes at 10:00 PM.
3. 8:00 PM: welcome dinner at Meso over chargrilled kebabs, the Moroccan Fish Kebab and freshly baked pizzas.
4. Day two, 11:00 AM: mehendi in the AC Deck Lounge, out of the midday sun. WedMeGood lists a bridal room, so ask about it.
5. 5:15 PM: the ceremony on the lawn, timed so the vows finish before sunset.
6. 6:30 PM: dinner on the VIP Terrace, then a small after-party in the indoor club space within the music cut-off.
7. Day three, 11:00 AM: check-out, after coffee and croissants from the Pâtisserie, Bakery & Café.

Keeping every guest on the property

A guest list this size can sleep on site, which takes transfers out of the plan. When a small venue is the wrong call

A small wedding at Marbela will frustrate two kinds of couple. Families who expect a long list of late invitations should book the lawn from the start, because the VIP Terrace does not stretch past 60 seats. As of September 2026, WedMeGood lists in-house catering at ₹2,000 veg and ₹2,200 non-veg a plate plus taxes, with décor from the resort's panel. That is a listing, not a quote. Ask for the music cut-off in each space as well. BookEventz lists events from 7 AM to midnight, but the beach club's published hours end at 10 PM, so get the cut-off in writing.
