Why do Goa wedding cost figures online disagree so much?

Goa wedding cost figures disagree because they describe different weddings, and few are based on a real quote. A 40-guest dinner on a terrace and a three-day celebration for 300 share a coastline and little else. Per-head catering is multiplied by guests and by functions. Room nights are multiplied by rooms and nights. The month sets the rate for almost everything. Change any one of those and the total moves in a way no headline price can capture. Marbela Beach Resort does not publish wedding packages or per-plate prices on its own site, and neat package figures on other pages are best read as guesses. The reliable method is slower. Build the budget from its components first, then ask two or three venues for itemised quotes on the same date, the same headcount and the same list of functions.

What do venue listings say catering costs at Marbela?

Wedding directories list Marbela's catering at between ₹1,400 and ₹2,200 a plate before taxes, and the gap depends on which listing and which year you read.

Run the numbers and the gap matters. Take 120 guests across three catered functions, which is 360 covers. At the WedMeGood figures that is roughly ₹7.2–7.9 lakh before taxes. At the BookEventz figures it is about ₹5–5.8 lakh. That difference of around two lakh is the reason to treat any listed price as a planning floor and ask for a written quote. Menus, bar packages, minimum guarantees and the season all move the real number. Catering is also in-house, and the resort's policy does not allow outside food, beverages or liquor, so there is no cheaper outside caterer to fall back on. Use the listings to test whether Marbela is in your range at all. Then get the events team to price your actual menu for your actual date.

A Goa beach wedding budget has about ten lines, and guest count drives most of them.

How does guest count change the bill?

Guest count is the biggest lever because it multiplies catering, bar, rooms and transfers at the same time. Take two versions of one wedding. Version one has 120 guests, three catered functions and 30 rooms for three nights: 360 catered covers and 90 room nights before anyone orders flowers. Version two has 60 guests, two functions and 15 rooms for two nights: 120 covers and 30 room nights. Halving the guest list cut covers and room nights to a third. It also changes the venue. At Marbela, 60 guests fit the open-air VIP Terrace, which seats 60, while 120 moves the main event to the beachfront lawn, which listings put at roughly 350–700 seated (confirm in writing). Transfers scale too. Thirty arrival groups from Mopa at approx. ₹1,000–1,500 a sedan comes to roughly ₹30,000–45,000 in taxis alone. The state's tourist-taxi rate for a one-way sedan is ₹43/km under a 2021 notification, which puts the 28 km ride near ₹1,200 before tolls, with a 35% surcharge from 11 PM to 5 AM. Which months cost more, and which can't be used?

November to February costs the most. Those months have the most reliable dry weather, so venues, decorators, photographers and flights are all in demand at once, and Christmas to New Year is the busiest stretch of Goa's year. March to May is hotter and quieter, which can make dates easier to secure. Plan evening functions then, and use an air-conditioned room such as Marbela's AC Deck Lounge for anything in daylight. The June–September monsoon has lower rates but rules out outdoor beach events, so any saving comes attached to an indoor wedding. October is transitional, with shacks reopening after the rains. Charges couples leave out

The forgotten lines are small on their own and large together.

• GST. Ask whether each quote includes it or adds it on top.
• Extra adults in rooms. According to Marbela's cancellation policy, children above 12 are charged as adults, ₹2,360 a night with an extra mattress. Children up to 6 stay free without an extra bed.
• Early arrivals. Check-in is 2:00 PM, and a guaranteed early check-in means paying for the previous night.
• Unused rooms. A cancelled or no-show room is charged at 100% of the stay, so over-booking a block costs real money.
• In-house drinks. Outside food, beverages and liquor are not allowed, so the venue prices the bar. Ask how family sweets are handled.
