Why does December cost more than any other month in Goa?

December stacks three kinds of demand on top of each other. The weather is at its best, dry and warm without the heat of April or May, so it's the month most people picture when they think of a Goa holiday. School and office holidays across India cluster around Christmas and New Year, which pushes families and groups into the same ten days. And the month is busy locally: the Feast of St Francis Xavier falls on 3 December and draws pilgrims to Old Goa, Goa Liberation Day is on 19 December, and the Christmas and New Year parties bring in a crowd of their own. Resorts price by demand, so rates climb through the month and peak between roughly 24 December and 1 January. Flights and taxis follow the same curve. The practical upshot is simple. A December trip isn't automatically overpriced, but the dates you choose inside December matter far more than they do in any other month.

Which December dates cost less?

The first two weeks, before schools break up, are usually the quieter part of the month. Morjim then has the dry-season weather without the crowds of the holiday week, and the Olive Ridley nesting season has started, running roughly November to March. Arriving on a weekday and leaving before the weekend helps too. What doesn't reliably help is waiting. Last-minute discounts in late December are rare in Goa because the rooms fill anyway. Booking early locks in a rate but also locks you in, so settle flights and leave first. • Airport taxi: a sedan from Mopa to Morjim typically costs around ₹1,000–1,500 for the 50–60 minute drive, and demand is high on peak days.
• Early check-in: check-in is 2 PM, so a morning flight means paying for the previous night to guarantee the room.
• Extra guests: children above 12 are charged as adults, ₹2,360 per night with an extra mattress. Children up to 6 stay free without an extra bed.
• Meals: breakfast depends on the room type or package. At Meso, dishes run from ₹650 for stuffed baby calamari to ₹1,600 for the Italian seafood platter.
• Drinks: outside food, beverages and liquor aren't allowed at the resort.

Is December still worth the price at Morjim?

For most people, yes, provided you pick the week carefully. December gives you open seas watched by Drishti lifeguards, dry evenings and sunsets over the Arabian Sea from the beach club, which runs until 10 PM. Morjim also stays calmer than Baga or Calangute even in the holiday week.
