Can you check out of a Goa resort on 31 December?

Not at Marbela. Check-out on 31 December is not permitted, so any stay that touches the end of the year must include the night of the 31st, with check-out on 1 January at 11 AM at the earliest. The rule catches people who plan a 28–31 December trip and then find the last night missing. Here is how common date patterns play out.

What is New Year's Eve like on Morjim Beach?

Morjim on New Year's Eve is busier than any other night of its year and still calmer than Baga, Calangute or Anjuna. That difference is the reason to choose it. The big, loud countdowns happen further south, where roads jam in the evening and taxis become scarce and expensive as midnight nears. Morjim keeps a long, open beach, a view across the Chapora estuary to the fort, and space to walk. Marbela Beach Club's published hours are 11 AM to 10 PM, with Ibiza-inspired house music from resident and guest DJs and sunset sets, and Meso restaurant serves until 11 PM. Festive-night timings, a special menu or a guest DJ may differ from the everyday schedule, and details are shared closer to the date, so ask rather than assume a midnight party. Two things are the same on every night of the season. Olive Ridley turtles nest at Morjim from roughly November to March, and bright lights and loud noise on the beach disturb them, so fireworks and torches on the sand are a bad idea. And Goa bans drinking alcohol in open public places, beaches included.

How early should you book New Year in North Goa?

Book as soon as your flights are fixed, ideally months ahead, because the Christmas–New Year week fills first and prices peak.

1. Three months or more out: choose dates that include 31 December night and check live rates on the booking engine.
2. Before paying: confirm the room type, whether breakfast is in the package, and the child count, since children above 12 are charged as adults at ₹2,360 a night with an extra mattress.
3. Once booked: sign up for the beach club newsletter, which announces parties, guest DJs and limited-time cabana deals.
4. A month out: book your Mopa taxi and your New Year's Eve dinner table at Meso.
5. The week of travel: pack photo ID for every adult.

Should you spend the whole festive week, or just one night?

Stay at least three nights if you can. Christmas to New Year in Goa has more than one big night: midnight mass and Christmas celebrations at churches across the state, the Saturday Night Market at Arpora, and Anjuna's flea market on Wednesdays in season. A short stay that arrives on the 31st spends the most crowded day of the year in a taxi. Arriving on the 29th or 30th gives you a quiet beach day, a sunset at Chapora Fort about 13–15 km away over the Siolim bridge, and time to settle before the busiest night. Three policies matter more over New Year than at any other time.

• No refunds. Cancellations and no-shows are charged 100% of the stay.
• No outside drinks. Outside food, beverages and liquor aren't allowed, so the bottle you bought for midnight stays at home.
