Beachfront lawn, VIP Terrace for 60 and AC Deck Lounge for private bookings.
Private dining on the beach in Goa is possible, but a table on the sand has real limits: sea wind, dusk mosquitoes, monsoon rain and, at Morjim, turtle nesting from late December to March. At Marbela Beach Resort, the confirmed private spaces are the AC Deck Lounge and the VIP Terrace. For an on-sand setup, ask Meso on +91 91588 81184.

For most couples, a private sea-view space is the more reliable choice, and a table on the sand is the more memorable one when conditions allow. The difference comes down to what can go wrong on the night.
| Factor | Table on the sand | Private sea-view space |
|---|---|---|
| Wind | Candles blow out; use lanterns | Sheltered |
| Rain | No fallback unless the venue has one | Unaffected in an air-conditioned lounge |
| Mosquitoes and sand | Expect both at dusk | Far fewer |
| Alcohol | Drinking on Goa's beaches is banned, with fines of ₹2,000 per person or ₹10,000 per group; ask how the venue handles it | Served as normal inside the restaurant |
| Turtle season at Morjim | Lights and noise must stay low | No effect on the beach |
| Verdict | Choose for a proposal in dry, calm months | Choose for anniversaries, older guests, or any date from April to October |
Morjim Beach is a protected Olive Ridley turtle nesting site, managed by the Goa Forest Department, and that shapes any romantic dinner on the sand from late December to March. The first nests of the last two seasons were found on 25 December 2024 and 26 December 2025, and most are laid between January and March. According to The Goan, 152 turtles laid more than 15,500 eggs at Morjim in 2024–25. Female turtles come ashore at night, and bright lights and loud noise on the beach can put them off. Eggs are moved to a fenced hatchery, where they incubate for about 45–52 days. A candlelight dinner on the beach in Goa during these months should therefore use low, warm light, no speakers, and a spot well away from fenced areas, following any instruction from forest staff. Fairy-light arches and fireworks are a poor idea anywhere near Morjim in turtle season. The easier alternative is to keep the romance indoors-adjacent: a sea-facing table in the AC Deck Lounge or on the VIP Terrace gives you the view of the water without putting anything on the sand. Read more in our Morjim turtle beach guide.
Marbela's restaurant, Meso, has two spaces that can be booked privately and one that simply has good tables. The AC Deck Lounge is fully air-conditioned, finished in rustic wood and jute, with floor-to-ceiling glass and uninterrupted sea views. It is available for private bookings, which makes it the dependable option in any month, including the monsoon. The VIP Terrace is an exclusive open-air lounge with sea views that seats 60; a Santabanta report describes actor Hrithik Roshan's anniversary party for friends at Marbela Beach in December 2010. For two people it is a lot of space, so ask about it for a celebration with family or friends. The bamboo pavilion, Meso's main al fresco area, is not private, but a front table at sunset is romantic on its own. Marbela does not list a set beach candlelight package. Call the restaurant to ask what can be arranged for your date, what it includes and what it costs.
Ask any venue these questions in writing, and get the answers before you confirm.
Small details matter more than big set-ups. Order a cake in advance from Marbela's Pâtisserie, Bakery & Café. Ask for a signature cocktail built on seasonal fruit, or a fresh juice for anyone not drinking. The Italian Seafood Platter (prawns, calamari, fish and grilled vegetables in mustard balsamic, listed at ₹1,600) is made for sharing. Staying the night? The Spa Villa Rooms have a private outdoor spa area and an open-air shower; they are not sold on the booking engine, so enquire with reservations. Yes, the beach is public. From late December to March keep lights and noise low near nesting areas, and ask Meso on +91 91588 81184 if you want a table or setup arranged nearby.
There is no standard price. It depends on the venue, menu and decoration, so ask for a written per-couple total including taxes before you pay anything.
Rarely. From June to September rain and red-flag seas make the sand unsuitable, so book a glass-fronted, air-conditioned space such as the AC Deck Lounge instead.
No. Outside food, beverages and liquor are not allowed at the resort. Order a cake from the Pâtisserie instead.
About 45 minutes before sunset. In December that means sitting down around 5:20 PM.
