Where house music fits in Goa's party history

Dubfire headlined the Masquerade on New Year's Eve 2022 for an 18+ crowd in smart or elegant dress. Treat the names above as history, and ask the resort who is playing on your dates before you book around a set.

How do you find out which guest DJs are playing?

Guest DJ dates at Marbela Beach Club are announced through the newsletter on the beach club page, alongside parties and limited-time cabana deals, so signing up is the most reliable way to hear about them. Resident DJs play the rest of the time, every day, which means there is house music whenever the club is open, even without a big name on the poster. Be wary of third-party event listings. Goa event pages are often copied from previous seasons and rarely updated, and December is when the whole of North Goa fills with parties, special events and changed plans. A quick WhatsApp to the club the week before will tell you who is playing. The same rule applies to any venue on your list. For a visit built around a specific DJ, confirm the date before you book flights or rooms.

Looking after yourself between the pool and the decks

A long day of music in Goa heat catches people out, so a few habits keep the sunset set enjoyable.

• Drink water between cocktails; March to May middays are hot.
• After a few drinks, swim in the pool rather than the sea.
• Swim in the sea only between the red-and-yellow Drishti flags, and never in the June–September monsoon.
• Outside drinks are not allowed, and drinking on the open beach is banned in Goa, with fines of ₹2,000 per person or ₹10,000 for a group.
• Book a cab home; do not ride a scooter after the party.
